Where is highway through hell
See all. Brian R. Rick W. Gord B. James L. Watch on. PT beginning Sept. Go prepared, or go home. For highway rescuer Jamie Davis, those words of wisdom come from 10 years of pulling wrecks from gullies along the snowbound Highway Thru Hell , otherwise known as B.
Its infamy is borne on the backs of all those who failed to make it over her 1,metre mountain pass, which connects the coastal rainforest of B. So dangerous and dramatic is the highway, Discovery Channel chose it as the basis of their gripping and exceptionally popular reality series Highway Thru Hell , which features the rescue work and heavy towing services of Jamie Davis and his 40 or so dedicated employees.
Davis is from a hauling family, learning the ropes at an early age from his parents before establishing his first towing firm with his brother in the s. Brace yourself — winter is here.
While many other service providers come and go, Davis remains. Many of the catastrophic mistakes he bears witness to involve typical cars and SUVs rather than big rigs. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing him on this very topic. Interspersed among the chuckles and anecdotes, Davis imparted tremendous insight into what can go wrong when motorists are ill-prepared to take on Mother Nature in a battle that she usually wins.
Her deadly weapons of choice include sheets of ice, blinding snowstorms, and avalanches. Think AWD makes you invincible in the show? Think again. So how does one ensure survival in such an epic struggle? And make no bones about it, being stuck on the Coq or any other remote highway when the mercury dips to minus 27 degrees Celcius is nothing short of a battle for survival. Trivia Canadian muscle car enthusiast Mike Hall, who later got his own hit show Rust Valley Restorers, appears in S2 Ep 10 of Highway Thru Hell dislodging rocks from a cliff that are falling on to the road.
User reviews 20 Review. Top review. Great show about tough towing company in the Canadian mountains. I have to say that I don't like many of the Discovery Channel shows, because they are so much staged and you can see and feel it.
This show however feels somehow real and the main characters are likable guys, doing their exhausting work in the bad conditions of Canadian mountains.
If you like cars and trucks this is a show for you, in my country we don't have such though conditions so we don't have such high-tech towing companies as Jamie Davis has. I watched every episode with great interest, you can see amazing performance by the towing crew. Jamie himself is a great character and great boss too, who tries to solve problems with his employees in a good and fair way, you have to admire him.
I love the last episodes of every season, where they meet at a table, drinking beer and summarize the whole season. It gives the show another perspective and deepness. Overall a great show about huge trucks in the ditches of the CCHL Highway, combined with great team of people and interesting problems to solve. Thanks Discovery :. Details Edit. Kevin considers yard man Samy, a year-old immigrant from Fiji, to be his assistant. When Kevin buys a video camera to film wrecks, his new hobby starts to get in the way of his current job. A head-on collision between two semis has the entire crew battling to clear the charred wreckage and get the road open.
While Kevin captures the action on tape, Samy does most of the heavy lifting, earning him a bottle of scotch and Jamie's praise.
That night, Samy, who sleeps in Jamie's office during the week, reveals that his hard work is all for his beloved wife and kids. Meanwhile, Kevin, I can't take it anymore! With spring coming, Jamie is facing a backlog of bills and heavy pressure to cut costs by laying off some of his staff.
