Should i watch thor

Make no mistake, this is a movie that offers its audience a journey to a very different world to ours. Asgard, with its classical architecture and heavy Nordic influences, looks stunning on a big screen and does a grand job of convincing you that you really are in a different part of the universe. And as convincing as the effects are, the cast are equally believable - Hemsworth's impressive physique demonstrates perfect casting as well as possibly a desire to get more women watching, perhaps while Hiddleston's Loki is a villain for the ages - suave, manipulative and every inch the trickster you expect him to be.

Branagh is very much an actor's director and there aren't many members of the cast who don't benefit from his direction. There's probably a reason why quite a lot of its sequel - Thor: The Dark World - is set in Asgard as opposed to Earth. The level of detail and imagination shown on Thor's homeworld is so deep that you believe and understand the culture and society there.

Even the costumes, extravagant and finished with such finesse, are amazing - Loki's epic horned helmet looks as spectacular as it does ridiculous but hey, at least it's staying true to the comics. Where things go badly wrong in Thor is when the action moves to Earth. But the worst is Kat Dennings as Foster's assistant Darcy.

Utilised only for comic relief and to reinforce Hemsworth's sexiness, Dennings is a complete waste of screen time as she isn't funny and there isn't a need to hype up Thor's manly chest. Even the action seems to suffer on Earth where before, in the other realms of Asgard, things were going well. The Destroyer is your typical big boss character where his size is directly linked to his accuracy - cars and petrol stations go up in a big ball of flame but ask him to shoot at an actor and nothing happens.

He doesn't even look that convincing compared to the crystal clarity of Asgard. However, soon, Thor has to seek his help. They, along with some interesting additions to the team, fight their sister together. His motive is dangerous, with one snap, he plans to erase half the universe. The Avengers band together and fight him, but his powers are much more than most can handle. Remember Tobey Maguire? Remember Andrew Garfield? They have nothing to do with this movie. Michael Keaton, back in the world of superheroes, plays the menacing Vulture.

Iron Man has a supporting role. You have my permission. Thor: Ragnarok My God, is this movie funny. The funniest of them all, actually. We just watched it again the other night and it was better than I remembered. Make it a point to come back, though. Black Panther Given its nearly all-black cast and massive box-office haul, Black Panther is the first MCU movie to become a bona fide cultural moment. Avengers: Infinity War WATCH, obviously.

Ant-Man and the Wasp I barely remember what happens in this one. Captain Marvel A lotta people loved this movie.

I thought it was… OK. OK, got it? Author: Dan Greenfield. This list just proves the point that the Cap movies are consistently the best of the entire MCU canon. Thank you so much!! Strange and Black Panther and he absolutely loved them. But all the other lists were way too long. Avengers 1 is my favorite MCU movie. Cap 1 — even though they wasted story material to rush him to the present, Ironman 1 and 2 — the first is my favorite of the three.

Avengers 1 — When they take on Loki, that scene was fantastic. Thor 1 — good even without the helmet. But, Asgard…. Hulk 1 Dr. Strange — looked like it was right out of a Ditko page Cap II — was okay. Never a fan of the retrocon of Bucky.

Cap Civil War — was okay though not a fan of heroes fighting heroes. I wanted to express my appreciation for taking the time to post such a thorough list.

This helped me so much. Skipped a few but was great to know what to continue watching, and what I can skip and go back and watch. I just watched all of them and the are the best movies ever. It was funny, and there wasn't any iffy stuff at all. In an instant, this was my favorite Marvel. The violence is not bad at all, the language is minimal, and there is no sex whatsoever, except for one kiss. There is a big lesson on humility, and a beautiful scene of self-sacrifice.
